HELENA TAVACI

I am an artist exploring the concept of colour. Specifically based upon aerial views, landscapes and mapping and how this links, in relation to pattern and colour. As a child, I did lots of travelling and lived in Turkey for some of my younger years. This has always given me a great appreciation for culture and I seem to associate specific colours with memories or scenes from childhood and the changing of my surroundings. My work greatly focuses on my own nostalgia and childhood memories. I remember travelling back and forth from the aeroplane window and being so fascinated by what was down below me. My work has a great link with documentation. As I think more about my practice, I love to show the beauty of the world and document the way in which I see it, so that we always have a portrayal of the beauty we once had. Even in all of today’s environmental struggles, we still see all of these amazing landscapes. Something I am fascinated by.
